FOOD COOPERATIVE

During a visit to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) at the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew  at 263 West 86th Street in New York City, we discovered what ministry to others needs to become.  We hope to set up this ministry during SPY this summer.

 A little bit about WSCAH.

1.  It is a place that changes our perception of hungry people by working in partnership with them, providing food with dignity and empowering customers to find solutions.

2.  Through a supermarket style food pantry, WSCAH alleviates hunger and creates a culture that promotes self reliance.

3.  At WSCAH they believe you should be able to choose your own groceries from their well-stocked supermarket

4.  Wellness goes far beyond fighting hunger. They offer exercise and nutrition programs as well as other services that help bring balance and success to their recipient's life.

5.  Their cooking program teaches their recipients how to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for their family, with an eye toward finding employment as a chef or cook.

6.  A brief conversation with one of their friendly counselors qualifies you and your family for food and lets you explore the other programs available through our offices.
